Recalls are often signal ongoing safety concerns. When vehicle manufacturers such as RAM or Chrysler discover that there is an ongoing problem or defect with a vehicle component, they issue a recall and send notices to the owners of those vehicles. You should receive a notice via mail and/or through email if your is subject to a recall. Recalls are issued for a range of specific defects. It is important to complete the recall repairs as they may be vital to the safe operation of your vehicle. In some cases, even though recalls have been issued, the recall remedies are not immediately available. If you feel your vehicle is unsafe, you should take it to a RAM or Chrysler dealership. If your vehicle has a defect that cannot be fixed, it could mean that you own a lemon.
Check your vehicle’s recall status by going to either the Manufacturer’s website, or the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) website at nhtsa.gov. You will need the VIN for your vehicle, which is available on your registration, your sales contract or inside your driver’s side door.
Recently RAM issued a recall for nearly 1.2 million RAM 1500 trucks.
The recall is for an issue with the anti-lock braking system. See the recall information below.
RAM TRUCK RECALL
The NHTSA has issued a recall covering 1,227,808 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup trucks from the 2019 and 2021-2024 model years. Dodge’s Safety Recall Report with the NHTSA states that these model year 1500s “may experience an Antilock Braking System ('ABS') control module software malfunction that can disable the Electronic Stability Control ('ESC') system.” Any Ram 1500 made between October 31, 2017, and February 14, 2024, could be affected except for 2020 model year vehicles.
How this may affect your vehicle? The ABS could glitch, and turn off your traction control without you knowing it. This could result in a safety issue, particularly in winter months when road surfaces are slippery, and traction control is of great importance.
Remember Safety First - if you feel your vehicle’s brakes or antilock brake system is not functioning correctly, then take your vehicle to a RAM or Chrysler dealer
